A great give away from Hannah

Hannah is a lovely young woman with a wonderful smile who also happens to have a great blog. Found the link in a comment on my Facebook page. What a stroke of luck that was. I thoroughly enjoyed her site and her wonderful promotions from Madison Street Beauty, which I am a huge fan of, and a new shop to me,  Neesie Designs.

Madison Street Beauty - is a wonderful mineral makeup line. She has fabulous eye shadows, of which I have bought many colors with several more on the way, a girl can never have too much eye shadow, right? She also has mineral foundations and is branching out into lip colors, wooo hoooo!

Neesie Designs -  she makes beautiful woodland crowns, and many unique accessories to decorate yourself with, making ya look pretty! From simple to elegant, bold and fanciful.

Regrets...

As some of you know, when I got frustrated or felt ignored, I would say, "Hello, my name is Moana and I'm a member of the PF team. I have posted that in our team bnr more than once and in the daily threads on several occasions. Upon reading the team newsletter, everything was fine, even progressive, until the very end. I must say, I was quite surprised. I'm having difficulty with the leadership decision. I am a member of another promotion team, but it has NOT stopped me from working hard on this team, FOR this team.  However, the cold shoulder has not gone unnoticed. This team has had this issue before and pulled through it as a stronger team. But for some reason, this recent episode has struck a nerve. Different teams promote in different ways and should not be seen as a defection or a conflict of interest. I have never shared any information in my other teams and don't feel as if I should have to make the choice between one team or another.  But now, it looks as tho my hand has been forced. "Hello, my name is Moana and I am no longer a member of the PF team."

Some Days You Just NEED a Good Laugh!!!

Ever have one of those days, when a laugh would do you a lot of good? Having one of those today. My sister sends the the funniest emails, so I thought I would share some of my favorites with you all today. Not sharing the dirty ones although they are quite funny, like the AARP swimsuit edition. This is for all you ladies who have a partner in your life.

MY WIFE AND I WERE WATCHING "WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE" WHILE WE WERE IN BED.

I  turned to her and said ,"Do you want to have sex"?

"No," she answered.

I then said, "Is that your final answer?"

She didn't even look at me this time, simply saying, "Yes."

So I said, "Then I'd like to phone a friend."

And then the fight started....

******************************************
My wife was hinting about what she wanted for our upcoming anniversary. She said, 'I want
something shiny that goes from 0 to 150 in about 3 seconds.'

I bought her a bathroom scale.

And then the fight started...

******************************************
I  took my wife to a restaurant. The waiter, for some reason took my order first. "I'll have the steak, medium rare please."

He said, "Aren't you worried about the mad cow?""

Nah , she can order for herself."

And then the fight started..
.
******************************************
A woman was standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror. She was not happy with what she saw and said to her husband, "I feel horrible; I look old, fat and ugly. I really need you to pay me a compliment."

The husband replied, 'Your eyesight's damn near perfect.'

AND THEN THE FIGHT STARTED....

Hope at least one of these brought a smile to your face today!

Satuday Breakfast with the Folks

Every Saturday morning my parents come over to have breakfast with my son and I. My Dad is the cook in his household, so it's the only day someone else cooks for him, so we all enjoy it. Usually we have cinnamon raisin french toast, bacon, fresh fruit, coffee, etc. This past Saturday my parents came over carrying a brown paper bag and said,  "we have a surprise for you". I thought whooo hoooo! Everybody likes a surprise, right? Then my Dad says, "I think Daniel (my son) should open it" and then whispered "he's not gonna like it". My son Daniel is 28 years old and has Down's Syndrome, and he can do and say some pretty creative things. So, he opens the bag and immediately looks at me. Ya see, inside the bag was 4 large empty jars of Alfredo sauce...I'm thinking WTH? My son likes to eat lunch with "his old friend,"  my Dad. It seems this past week, when he went to eat lunch, he immediately ran into the bathroom, saying "I gotta go".  My parents have a small pantry in the bathroom. It seems  he would quick run in to get a snack. He actually drank the jars of the thick,  rich, white sauce. Then my Dad said, he also ate a large can of french onion dip and 2 cans of jalepino dip. After he was done, he put the empty jars and cans back in the pantry. BUSTED!!! Now I know how he gained a pound on his diet. Isn't life an adventure that keeps on giving???

NewThings to Come

First of all, I'd like to extend my thoughts to all of you who have been affected by Mother Natures' recent tirades. The devastation has certainly been widespread. From fires, to earthquakes and tropical weather with tornadoes.  After all the rain finally finished here, beautiful cooler weather has moved in, a sign of much needed renewal and new things to come.
I am always on the search for new items to add to my shop. This past week I found some beautiful new treasures. So in the next couple of weeks, new things will start appearing in my shop. Feedback is always welcome and appreciated when constructive and respectful. My blog was supposed to be about my new shop direction and it kinda got hijacked. Thanks to all of you who have kept me in your thoughts as well.  NEW THINGS TO COME!!!

Not Much Happening...

Really don't have much to blog about today. No new crisis this past week, no role changes, no nothing pretty much! Feeling kinda testy today, so some things are better left unsaid. Did have one random sale, not related to our promofrenzy activity. But I do want to congratulate those of you who are seeing their shops and sales grow. I know it has been exciting for you! The month's not over yet, so let's keep up the hard work. Promoting is vital for us all. Oh, and last nites bnr, wow, so many sales, guess we did need the break.....

Life's Priorities

Priorities are constantly changing during our life's journey, our roles ever evolving. Everyone needs reminding on occasion and life likes to give us little nudges along the way. Sometimes you recognize these little bumps and simply ignore them. Other times you don't even realize that you've been nudged. And sometimes, the little nudge is like a fist to your stomach.  My roles, like so many of you, have changed significantly over the years. I went from being an Air Force brat daughter, to nurse, to wife (twice), to mother (twice), to divorced (twice), to becoming ill and disabled. And now I find myself taking another look at my priorities. You see, today I got punched right in the gut. My niece ran over to my house and told me that my Mother had fallen and to come quick. I realize that my parents are getting up there in age, but when I saw my 79 year old Mother laid out on the floor, like she was in a casket and my frail 86 year old father kneeling over her, my heart just sank and then broke into many tiny little pieces. Luckily she wasn't hurt, but the fear on their faces was so very apparent if only for just a second. Getting old sure isn't for sissies...I think my role hasn't stopped evolving quite yet.

Etsy Lush - The Best of Etsy

Recently I came across a web page called Etsy Lush. It is a site that showcases the best of etsy. You can submit one item from your shop every 24 hours. There are some specific criteria for submissions, ie: no political items, no items with real animal fur etc. The submission process is quite simple, kinda like a short new listing on etsy. Items accepted are displayed like a treasury on the front page which is constantly changing. If you click on the item, it will take you to that particular listing on etsy. You can go to a category and view items specific to that category. I have no idea of the effectiveness of the site, but it does provide much needed backlinks to your individual showcase listings. Thought some of you may want to check it out @  www.etsylush.com

Combining Two Addictions

You all know about my love of miniature gardening. Another favorite of mine are African violets.  They just add a little something special. Even when the weather is gloomy, steaming or freezing, these little suckers are blooming. Finding new colors and flower patterns is always a challenge. UNTIL NOW!!! Let me introduce you to The Violet Barn. They specialize in unusual varieties with superior blooming and growth habit.

African Violets: Every kind imaginable

Butterflies

I recently began following some blogs on wildlife gardening. I came across a blog that is authored by the keepers of the BioWorks Butterfly Gardens at the Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa, Florida. There are so many interesting facts about butterflies that I had no idea of, so I wanted to share some with you today. Butterflies each have four wings, two fore wings and two hind wings. Butterflies and moths belong to the order Lepidoptera. This name means "scale- wing" in Latin and refers to the scale cell structures found on the wings.
Scales: These tiny scales are not very noticeable to the eye when looking at a whole butterfly wing, but if the wing is touched you will find a fine colored dust left behind. That dust is actually the tiny scales that cover the wings of the insect.  In butterflies, these scales overlap in orderly rows just like shingles on a roof.  Without the support of the wing scales, butterfly wings are not as structurally sound and are more likely to break.
These tiny wing scales plug into equally tiny sockets on the wings and are individually colored to create the incredible wing patterns.

Special Scales: Lastly, some butterfly scales are very specialized. Androconia are a specialized scales on male butterflies that are scented to help attract mates during courtship. The tiny hairs that can be seen on a butterfly's head are actually scale that stand straight up and just look like hairs. WHO KNEW???

Miniature Gardening

As most of you probably know, I love gardening. I've been adding perrenials to my flower beds for the past 3 years and they're really coming along. But with the heat of summer, I was looking for something else to do where I wouldn't feel like I was going to drop dead at any second due to the temperature and humidity.  A few months ago I came upon an article about miniature gardening. I found it so intriguing, that I decided to give it a try. Now let me warn you, it's not for the faint at heart. By the time you add finishing touches, you've got quite an investment on your hands. But as I delved deeper into it, I found great shops on etsy to purchase all sorts of miniature items.  I discovered  from a friend that you can add pieces from the toy department like fairies or pagodas from the fish department. Also found items to add from doll house collections. I even found a jewelry shop on etsy that made me some birds nests. I was officially addicted, kinda like the Crimson lip balm thing. So now I have quite a stash of items and have just ordered plants for my 4th miniature garden. Here's my first three, hope you luv them.

FOR SOME DANG REASON, I CAN'T ADD THE PICTURES TO MY BLOG, SO SEE PHOTOS ON THE BOTTOM OF BLOG PAGE....

Moanas New Life Experience

Last week I had a new life experience and at my age of 50 something, why couldn't it be nice, sexy, fun or heartwarming. It was not pretty -  identity theft. I am a lot wiser now after dealing with issues the entire week. What is wrong with people? Where have things gone so wrong? Why have morals disappeared? Maybe I'm showing my age here, but I am constantly amazed at the cajones people have and how corrupt things can get. All I could think of was "WTF"?  REALLY?  Then amongst the chaos, random acts of kindness. An fellow etsian convoed me to tell me how much she liked my shop and would I please add her to my circle. She said with 100,000's of shops, she didn't want to loose track of mine.  No one had ever done that before. A friend at a bnr gave up their spot for me so that I would have a chance at a sale. Isn't it strange how people you've never met can become a friend.  Didn't know this was a service etsy provided. RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS ♥♥♥

How Pinterest is changing my perspective

There has been a lot of chatter about Pinterest in our team threads. So, being the techno genius that I am, I decided to check it out and join. My first impression was, why do I need so many boards, am I really going to pin so many things? Where do I find all these great photos? So I decided to revisit my favorites list. And I must admit I ♥'ed many things during the past year. What a new perspective it has given me. I had truly forgotten all the wonderful items in that listing. It made me remember how beautiful I thought each individual item was and why it touched me. My life has many challenges at this stage of mature citizenship. And I was leaving all that beauty behind, forgotten.....Well, needless to say, I am up to 18 boards and having a blast. All my favorite things just make me feel warm inside and relaxed. As a few team members have now followed me, I have had a lot of their pictures to review as well. We have a very diverse team. We all have our own perceptions of what beauty is and the form that it takes. Our team has had some rough spots here lately. But overall, I have now discovered we have a lot more in common than I initially thought. Pinterest is truly changing my perspective. I've added my pinterest link to my blog. Take a look and join the fun.

The True Meaning

For many this long weekend is about barbecues and having fun with family and friends. While this is certainly important, let's not forget the true meaning of this holiday weekend. Take the time to reflect on those men and women who have given their lives so that we can all enjoy the freedoms we have today. Remember the cost to their families for that sacrifice. Show respect for our country and our flag. You don't have to support any of the ongoing conflicts, but we ALL owe respect and thanks to our men and women in uniform and to those who have given service to our country. Take the time to thank service members and the many veterans all around you, not just today, but whenever you encounter them. Our freedom has come at a high price for many!

My introduction to technology

As most of you know, my technology skills are pretty lacking. To help promote my shop on etsy, I belong to the promotional frenzy team. They have finally pushed me to become more savvy, and it was a hard fight.  But I've just created this blog site, not bad for a first timer. I even opened a facebook fan page and twitter! So pretty soon I'm gonna be some hot stuff!! Hope you follow me along in my journey into modern civilization.
